About Membership

How do I become a member?
You become an LDG Member by completing and submitting a membership application.  Once we review and approve the application and receive payment, we will notify you that the membership has been approved and provide further details on your benefits.

What is the Legacy Direct Gateway (LDG)?
The Legacy Direct Gateway is a growing international network of members from the healthcare and biotechnology industries, academia and philanthropic groups interested in improving healthcare and the quality of life in Africa.

LDG was established to promote strategic international partnerships for improved healthcare, innovative biotechnology and local capacity building in Africa.

Why should I join the Legacy Direct Gateway (LDG)?
When you join LDG, you become part of a growing international network of members from the healthcare and biotechnology industries, academia and philanthropic groups interested in improving healthcare and the quality of life in Africa.

Our members strengthen our ability to increase opportunities for strategic international healthcare and biotechnology partnerships and enable us to engage important stakeholders and address important issues such as HIV/AIDS, hunger and poverty.

You’ll also receive exclusive invitations to Legacy Direct events and opportunities to partner with us.

How long does LDG membership last?
LDG membership is for a 12-month period from the day your membership begins.

Can my organization become an LDG member?

Who Started Legacy Direct and Why?
Legacy Direct was founded by an international group of individuals seeking to increase the self-reliance of African communities.  In 2004, various African and international stakeholders commenced discussions for the formation of Legacy Direct.  A preparatory meeting was held on April 12, 2006 at the South African Consulate in Chicago and soon thereafter an Ad Hoc working group was formed.  The organization was officially established in 2007.

What is the organization’s focus and how is it organized?
Legacy Direct is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded to serve as a portal to facilitate international strategic partnering opportunities for improving healthcare, commercialization of new biotechnologies and self-reliance of African communities.

Legacy Direct is building a growing international network of members from the healthcare and biotechnology industries, academia and philanthropic groups interested in improving healthcare and the quality of life in Africa.

We currently has several Standing Committees.  The Chairs of each Standing Committee all serve on an Executive Committee, which reports to the Board of Directors.
